Ambassador – designate Mafaz Mohideen met H.E. Jassim bin Jaber J.B. Al-Sorour, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sri Lanka on 02nd February 2021 at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Doha.
During the courtesy call, they reviewed the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries and the prospects of developing and advancing these relations into a dynamic political, trade and business partnership.

Ambassador Kithsiri Athulathmudali Presents Credentials to Amir of the State of Qatar

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the State of Qatar, Kithsiri Athulathmudali presented Letters of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar on Sunday 15 September 2019 at Amiri Diwan in Doha-Qatar.
The ceremony entailed the presentation of credentials, followed by a Guard of Honour and the playing of the National Anthem of Sri Lanka. While welcoming the Ambassador, Amir wished him success in his assignment and warmly recalled the cordial bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and Sri Lanka.
Ambassaor Athulathmudali conveyed warm greetings from His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and expressed his keen interest of further enhancing the friendly bonds and close cooperation to new heights, during his tenure of duty.
Ambassador Athulathmudali holds a Masters in Business Administration from California University, United States and is an old boy of Nalanda College, Colombo. He has served as a Business Consultant to various Global Organizations during his long and eminent business career.

Ambassador- designate Kithsiri Athulathmudali visits Katara Cultural Village Foundation 

Ambassador  -designate   Athulathmudali met with  the H.E.the General Manager of  Katara Cultural Village Foundation, H.E.Dr.Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti. Ambassador  Athulathmudali received  the memento of "Door to Qatara" at the Katara Cultural Village Foundation.

The newly appointed Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to the State of Qatar,    Kithsiri Athulathmudali assumed duties at the Embassy of Sri Lanka on 08 August 2019.
His assumption of duties was marked by a simple ceremony. Ven. Dr. Ittpana Dhammalankara Maha Nayake Thero conducted Pirith chanting and Rev. Father Abraham Banarba, Rev. Father Gunapala Katuwawala, Thiru Shakthivel Sivarajan and Moulawi Ashraff performed religious observances for invoking the blessings for his successful tenure of duty.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador-designate Kithsiri Athulathmudali shared his plans for strengthening existing cordial bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Qatar, and emphasized the need for further strengthening of trade and investment between the two countries.
Ambassador-designate Athulathmudali holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University, Manchester, UK, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration from California University, Long Beach, CA, USA. He is an old boy of Nalanda College, Colombo.

Ambassador-designate Kithsiri Athulathamudali attends the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2019 in Qatar

Ambassador-designate H.E. Kithsiri Athulathmudali participated on the second day of South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2019 held at the Lusail Indoor Arena on 16 August 2019.
Pantaloons SIIMA 2019, a two-day ceremony started on 15 August 2019 to honour the best in filmmaking in the four southern states of India. On the second day of the event, Pantaloons SIIMA 2019 awarded the best film making in Tamil and Malayalam cinema industry.
H.E. Kithsiri Athulathmudali presented awards to the winners at the ceremony.

Responding to media queries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Ravi Karunanayake, expressed shock and grief at the tragic loss of life and injury as a result of the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower in London early today, 14 June.

The new Ambassador A.S.P.Liyanage  meets the Qatar Foreign Minister.

H.E. Mr. P.D.P.S.A. Liyanage, the newly appointed Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the State of Qatar arrived Doha on 16th of March 2017 and presented open Copies of credentials to H.E. Soltan bin Saad Al Muraikhi State Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar on 19th March 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha.
 
Mrs. K.H.C. Sankapali, Second Secretary and Head of Chancery, Mr. D. Amanulla, Second Secretary and Mr. D.A.D.R. Danansooriya, Second Secretary were also presented at the ceremony.

Celebration of the 69th Independence Day at the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Doha

The 69th Anniversary of Independence Day of Sri Lanka was celebrated on 4th February 2017 at the Embassy premises in Doha with the participation of the Sri Lankan community, Religious representatives, Media personals and the Mission staff and their families.
​
The celebration commenced with hoisting the National Flag by Mrs. K.H.C. Sankapali, Charge d’ Affaires, followed by the singing of the National Anthem in both Sinhala and Tamil Languages. The traditional oil lamp was lit by the Embassy Officials and invitees from the Sri Lankan Community Leaders.

Annual Iftar Programme celebrated at Sri Lanka Embassy in Doha

​On 16th of June 2017, the Annual Iftar ceremony was held at the Sri Lankan embassy premises in Qatar. The ceremony commenced at 5.30pm. The Sri Lankan flag was raised by H.E. Mr. A.S.P. Liyanage, Sri Lanka Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
 
The Sri Lankan national anthem was played in both Sinhalese and Tamil followed by the Qatari national anthem. About 600 people participated in the ceremony.

This has reference to the previous communications on the above.
As we have informed you, this Embassy has arranged a meeting with the members of the Sri Lankan Associations.  Although we invited two members from each of 22 organizations,   around
300 hundred Sri Lankan were participated at the meeting. During the meeting, Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of foreign Affairs has delivered a live talk with the Community.
