There are a large Sri Lankan population employed in the Government, Business, Private, and the Industrial sectors. There are varied requirements in their employment, that come-up from the time they are recruited up to their leaving Qatar. They are as follows.
WELFARE OF SRI LANKANS
The Labour Section of the Embassy also looks into the welfare of Sri Lankans by visiting hospitals, detention camps and jails.
AUTHENTICATION OF LABOUR CONTRACTS, JOB-ORDERS AND AGREEMENTS
These are functions the Labour Section does to facilitate the Labour Agents both in Qatar and Sri Lanka. The documentation should be correctly forwarded to the Labour Section for this purpose. (The documentation necessary and other details are given in the website). Approval should obtain from the SLBFE for all Labour contracts, job-orders and service contracts of domestic workers. RECEIPT OF COMPLAINTS FROM THE SRI LANKANS ENGAGED IN THE INDUSTRIAL AND HOUSEHOLD SECTORS
The Embassy entertains these complaints with a view to bring in solutions between the employer and the employee. (An Application for this purpose is in the Website). They are settled by amicable discussions, referring them to the Labour Department or CEID. The Embassy facilitates the process by preparing documentation free of charge.
RENEWALS OF SLBFE REGISTRATION
Bureau Registration of the migrant employees is a mandatory requirement and includes a free insurance cover for the employee and family. The registration is valid for two years and to be renewed thereafter. This is facilitated through this Mission. Their welfare in overseas locations is provided for a period of two years from the date of departure.
