Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for Travelers to Sri Lanka

Travelers intending to visit Sri Lanka for purposes such as holidays, visiting friends or relatives, or seeking medical treatment (including Ayurvedic and yoga services) must obtain ETA approval prior to their visit.

You can apply for an ETA by submitting your application via www.eta.gov.lk

All applicants are encouraged to use the ETA system to prevent unnecessary delays.

Important Notice to All Foreign Tourists Visiting Sri Lanka:
With effect from 15th October 2025, it is mandatory for all foreign nationals visiting Sri Lanka for tourism purposes obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to arrival.

Notice for Specific Countries:
Visitors from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, North Korea and Syria are required to obtain a pre-arranged visa before arrival or must apply for their ETA through a Sri Lankan sponsor via the Head Office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration.
