Police Clearance Certificate
- Police clearance certificates may be obtained either in person through the Embassy or online directly from Police Headquarters in Sri Lanka. When applying online, the approximate processing time is 3–4 weeks.(Please visit: Application for Police Clearance Certificate)
- If you choose to apply in person through the Embassy, the processing time is approximately 3-4 months. Please find below the list of required documents for submitting a police clearance application through the Embassy.
1. Required Documents
- Duly completed application in duplicate – Application for Police Clearance Certificate (Download Here)
- Sri Lanka National Identity Card
- Passport (Bio page) with two photocopies
- 02 Passport Photographs
- An affidavit is required if there is a name discrepancy between the passport and the NIC. ( If PCC is to be issued as per the passport name )
2. Special Instructions
- Overseas applicants must clearly provide their contact details (WhatsApp number and email address) and, if applicable, the contact details of a relative in Sri Lanka.

If the applicant is above 16 years of age and has resided in Sri Lanka after the age of 16, submission of an NIC copy is mandatory. (If an NIC copy is not submitted, the Police Clearance Certificate will be issued only up to the applicant’s age of 16 years)
