The festival was officially inaugurated by H.E. Sithara Khan, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar, at LuLu Hypermarket, Barwa City, in the presence of Sri Lankan cricket legend Lasith Malinga and senior representatives led by Dr. Mohamed Althaf, Director of Global Operations, LuLu Group International.
Organized in conjunction with the 78th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, the festival highlighted the island’s rich culinary heritage, vibrant culture, and longstanding trade ties with Qatar.
The event also featured cultural performances, with Malinga launching the GIEO Active sports brand at the venue. Customers enjoyed authentic Sri Lankan flavours, organic produce, and exclusive offers throughout the festival period, which ran until 10 February 2026.
